Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood within New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. She has covered several notable stories over the years, such as fiscal reform, the budget and the Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
